About the Speakers

David M. Halbfinger ’90 is the politics editor of The New York Times. He previously served as the paper’s Jerusalem bureau chief, as political and deputy editor of the Metro desk, 2016 presidential campaign editor, and deputy national editor. As a Times reporter, he has covered the New York metropolitan area, the southeastern United States, the movie business and the 2004 presidential campaign. His investigative reporting has exposed criminals and ended careers. A onetime reporter and editor for the Yale Daily News, he lives in Montclair, N.J., with his wife and three children.

He will be in conversation with Jacob Hacker, the Stanley Resor Professor of Political Science, co-director of the Ludwig Program in Public Sector Leadership at Yale Law School, and a resident fellow of the Institution for Social and Policy Studies.
