Joël Chapron: East European Cinema at Cannes Film Festival: Past and Present
Joël Chapron is a specialist in Central and Eastern European cinema, particularly that of the former Soviet Union. He is a foreign correspondent for the Cannes Film Festival for over 30 years for the countries of the former USSR. A Russian interpreter and translator, he has subtitled over a hundred films, written numerous articles, produced DVD bonus features, and written books published in France and Russia. He is currently an associate researcher at the Culture and Communication Laboratory at the University of Avignon.

Emmanuel Burdeau is a French film critic, From 2003 to 2009, he has been editor in chief for Cahiers du cinéma. The author of several books (La Passion de Tony Soprano, Vincente Minnelli, Werner Herzog, pas à pas and Gravité. Sur Billy Wilder), he contributes to Mediapart, Le Média TV, Le Monde Diplomatique, and participates in several podcasts focused on cinema and film criticism such as Spéculations and Microciné.
