About the Speakers
Azad Safarov is the co-founder of the Voices of Children Foundation, a documentary filmmaker, journalist, and the originator of the idea for this book. In 2019, Azad and Olena Rozvadovska established the Voices of Children Foundation. He also served as the assistant director of the film A House Made of Splinters, which was nominated for an Oscar in 2022. Since January 2022, he has worked as a local producer for the British television channel Sky News. In 2023, he received a prestigious International Emmy Award for his coverage of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
Viktoriia Matiusha is the founder of the Literary Agency OVO and a simultaneous interpreter. She has dedicated her efforts to ensuring that the world sees this book of children's quotes about the war in Ukraine. Taking the lead as literary agent, she has built bridges with international publishers who share our commitment to spreading these important stories across borders. Viktoriia’s efforts led to our partnership with HarperCollins.
Olha Vovk leads the creative department at the Voices of Children Foundation and served as the art director for Through the Eyes of Children. She chose the quotes and illustrations, worked with the artists, and even contributed some of her own illustrations to the book.
Tania Vovk is a 10-year-old illustrator for the Voices of Children Foundation and the
inspiration behind this book. She was the first to share her quotes with us, and
she is the only contributor who illustrated her own quotes. Both of her parents
serve in the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU). She has lived her entire life with
the ongoing war in Ukraine.
