The Yale Women's Centers' annual conference, Feminism Will Not Be Neutralized, will focus on the intersections of feminism with political organizing historically and the future of feminism and organizing at Yale in the context of institutional neutrality.

About the Speakers

Dr. Deepa Kumar is a Professor of Journalism and Media Studies at Rutgers University, and an eminent scholar of race, empire, gender, and media in the United States. She is the author of Islamophobia and the Politics of Empire, now in its second edition, and Outside the Box: Corporate Media, Globalization, and the UPS Strike. A public intellectual and activist, Dr. Kumar has led intersectional labor organizing efforts and has been widely featured in outlets such as the BBC, NPR, and The New York Times. Her current research explores the nexus of empire, security, and racialized surveillance.
